Jean-Christophe Castella, is a senior researcher of the Institute of Research for Development (IRD, France) specialized in land use and livelihood systems analysis. Over the past 15 years, he has been involved in international research programs in Southeast Asia with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and currently with the Centre of International Forestry Research (CIFOR). He investigates the impact of agroecological and socioeconomic changes on farmers' practices and decision making. He contributes to methodological developments on community-based natural resource management and policy mechanisms related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
